How Ambulex Is Empowering Community Health Promoters in Kajiado
In the vast and often hard-to-reach interior parts of Kajiado County, access to timely emergency care has long been a challenge. For many communities, distance, cost, and limited ambulance availability can mean the difference between life and death. But a new partnership is beginning to change that narrative.
Ambulex, a growing force in Kenya’s digital health space, is working hand in hand with Kajiado County to equip Community Health Promoters (CHPs) with the knowledge and tools they need to respond effectively to emergencies. This initiative is not just about training—it’s about transforming how underserved communities access life-saving care.
Empowering the Frontline
At a recent training session attended by over 50 Community Health Promoters, Ambulex provided practical guidance on emergency response, triage, and how to connect patients to timely care using digital solutions. These CHPs, who serve as the first point of contact in many rural households, play a crucial role in bridging the healthcare gap.
Throughout the session, participants shared their lived experiences—highlighting the realities they face on the ground. From the high cost of ambulance services to the lack of availability in remote areas, the challenges are significant. In many cases, CHPs are forced to improvise, often without the support they need.
This is where Ambulex steps in.
By offering affordable and accessible emergency response services, Ambulex is helping to ease the burden on these frontline workers. Through its platform, CHPs can quickly connect patients to available ambulances, ensuring faster and more reliable response times—even in the most underserved regions.
A Timely and Critical Partnership
Speaking during the event, Mr. Sam Saigulu, Director of Public Health in Kajiado County, emphasized the importance of the initiative.
He noted that the training was not only timely but critical, as the county continues to strengthen its primary healthcare systems. He also acknowledged that the partnership between Kajiado County and Ambulex marks a significant step forward in improving emergency response and expanding access to digital health services across Kenya.
Looking Ahead
This collaboration is more than a one-time effort—it’s part of a broader vision to build resilient, community-driven health systems. By empowering CHPs with the right knowledge and tools, and by leveraging technology to close service gaps, Ambulex is helping to create a future where no emergency goes unanswered.
As Ambulex looks to partner with more counties, the impact of initiatives like this one in Kajiado serves as a powerful reminder: when communities are equipped and supported, real change happens.
